What is Punycode?
Punycode is an encoding that converts Unicode strings into ASCII. Since DNS only supports ASCII, Chinese domains must be encoded with Punycode to resolve correctly.
Encoding rules
- Starts with xn--
- Followed by encoded ASCII characters
- Only letters, digits, and hyphens
