About EXIF
The EXIF viewer helps you inspect image metadata quickly, including device information, shooting parameters, and geographic location.
What is EXIF?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a metadata standard for digital photos. It can store capture time, camera and lens details, orientation, and sometimes GPS data.
Common Metadata Fields
- Capture date and time
- Camera manufacturer and model
- Lens data, aperture, shutter speed, ISO
- GPS latitude, longitude, and altitude
- Image orientation and resolution
- Copyright and artist information
Notes
- Not every image contains EXIF metadata. Social media platforms often strip it.
- JPG and TIFF usually keep richer EXIF records, while PNG often has fewer camera tags.
- Before exporting JSON/CSV, review whether the metadata contains sensitive location or device details.
